L4 SECURITY 13TH REGION MEDIA NETWORK GIRLS’ SOCCER WEEK SIX RANKINGS: Corbin remains on top with 11-game unbeaten streak

1. Corbin (11-3-1 overall, 4-0 against 13th Region opponents)

The Lady Redhounds saw their 10-game win streak come to an end after tying Somerset last week, 1-1, but their unbeaten streak is now at 11.

Corbin hasn’t lost a game since Aug. 19 — that’s impressive. The Lady Redhounds will attempt to finish out the remainder of the regular season with wins over Pulaski County, and Berea.

2. South Laurel (8-4, 4-1)

The Lady Cardinals have struggled since beginning the season with a 7-1 record. They did get past crosstown for North Laurel last week with a 6-4 win but followed the two-goal victory with a 4-1 loss to Woodford County. Tough matches against Southwestern and Somerset await Lora Rison’s squad this week.

3. North Laurel (3-5-1, 1-2)

The Lady Jaguars don’t possess the prettiest of records but showed during last week’s 6-4 loss to South Laurel, they are capable of playing with any team in the region.

North Laurel will attempt to finish regular season play strong with games against Berea and Letcher Central this week.

4. Whitley County (5-9, 2-3)

The Lady Colonels snapped a season-long five-game losing skid last Thursday with a 4-2 victory over Woodford County.

Whitley County has three games this week with hopes of winning them all heading into next week’s 49th District Tournament.

5. Middlesboro (8-3, 5-1)

The Lady Yellow Jackets’ four-game win streak came to an end after falling to Bishop Brossart this past week, 11-0, during first round action of the All ‘A’ Classic Girls’ Soccer State Tournament.

Keep an eye on Middlesboro, the Lady Yellow Jackets could surprise during postseason play.
