The 49th District’s No. 1 seed came down to a PK shootout on Tuesday.
After seeing both Corbin, and North Laurel battle things out to a four-all tie in regulation, and two overtime periods, the Redhounds finally came away with the 5-4 win after winning the PK shootout, 4-2.
Corbin locked up the district’s top seed, improving to 11-6-1, and 4-0 against district opponents while a heartbroken Jaguar squad will be the No. 2 seed while falling to 8-7-2 overall, and 3-1 against district opponents.
Seth Miller gave North Laurel an early 1-0 lead before the Redhounds’ Gabe Cima tied the match at one apiece during the 32nd minute.
Grant Abner’s goal during the 37th minute allowed the Jaguars to enter halftime with a 2-1 edge.
Cima tied the match at two apiece just two minutes in the second half, and gave his team a 3-2 advantage during the 53rd minute thanks to a penalty kick,
North Laurel fought back and reclaimed the lead as Jackson McCowan took a pass from Tanner a Broyles and scored to tie the match at three apiece during the 67th minute.
He then followed with a goal during the 72nd minute to give his team a 4-3 lead.
The lead didn’t last long, though.
Brayden Vann tied the match at four apiece with four minutes remaining in regulation.
Both teams failed to score during the two overtime periods before Corbin won the match by outscoring the Jaguars, 4-2, in the PK shootout.
