Corbin kept its bid of winning another 13th Region championship alive by delivering Whitley County a 9-3 loss during Tuesday’s 49th District Boys’ Soccer Tournament semifinals.
The Redhounds (13-6-1) broke open a two-all tie during the final eight minutes of the first half thanks to scoring five goals during the time span.
The six-goal victory advances Armando Cima’s squad to Thursday’s championship game.
Corbin has now won 14 matches in a row against the Colonels, and leads the series between the two teams, 14-1.
Goals by Braydon Van, and Colby Johnson gave the Redhounds a quick 2-0 lead 10 minutes into the match.
Whitley County answered with goals by Johnny Parra and Matt Sawyers to tie the game at 2-2 with 21 minutes remaining in the first half.
Brendon Barajas’ goal during the 32nd minute allowed Corbin to regain a 3-2 advantage.
Aden Cima followed with two goals while Colby Johnson and Gabe Cima each scored while giving the Redhounds a 7-2 lead at halftime.
Nate Owens and Alessio Cesari each found the back of the net in the second half for Corbin while Parra scored the Colonels’ lone goal in the second half.
