NO DOUBT ABOUT IT: Redhounds score first five goals en route to a 5-2 championship win over North Laurel

Corbin continued its dominance in the 49th District by capturing its fourth straight championship on Thursday.

After defeating North Laurel in a penalty kick shootout just a week ago, the Redhounds wasted little time taking care of business in the 49th District Boys’ Soccer Tournament title game.

Corbin scored the game’s first five goals and never looked back during its 5-2 win.

The Redhounds are now 14-6-1 overall while improving to a perfect 5-0 against regional opponents. The Jaguars fell to 10-8-2 overall and 3-2 against regional foes (both losses came against Corbin).

Both teams will now advance to the 13th Region Boys’ Soccer Tournament.

Gabe Cima’s goal five minutes into the match gave his team a quick 1-0 lead. He followed with another goal during the 25th minute as Corbin held a 2-0 edge at halftime.

Goals by Braydon Van and Cima during the first nine minutes of the second half increased the Redhounds’ advantage to 4-0 before seeing Aheel Pastel’s goal at the 66 minute mark push Corbin’s lead to a commanding, 5-0.

North Laurel’s Jackson McCowan and Tanner Broyles both scored during the final 12 minutes to make the final score, 5-2.
