Middlesboro’s Cayden Grigsby put on a show during Friday’s, 47-21, win over Leslie County.
Grigsby rushed for more than 150 yards on the ground while scoring three touchdowns and also finished with two touchdowns during the Yellow Jackets’ 47-21 win over the Eagles.
After sitting a week out due to an injury, Grigsby let his presence be known early. He broke away from Leslie County defenders and raced 67 yards to paydirt, giving his team a 7-0 advantage with 7:14 remaining in the first quarter.
A 40-yard pass from Grigsby to Kameron Wilson, set up Vincent Smith’s three-yard touchdown run as Middlesboro’s lead stood at 14-0 at the 7:07 mark in the first half.
The Eagles managed to score right before halftime to cut their deficit to 14-6.
Leslie County tied the game at 14 apiece after scoring on a kickoff return to begin the second half but Middlesboro answered with two touchdown runs by Grigsby.
His 56-yard run gave his team a 21-14 advantage while his 44-yard run with 4:26 left in the third quarter gave the Yellow Jackets a 28–14 advantage.
Grigsby’s 15-yard run on Middlesboro’s ensuing possession set up a two-yard touchdown run by Smith while two touchdown passes from Grigsby in the fourth quarter wrapped up a 26-point win for the Yellow Jackets.
