The Redhounds captured the 49th District championship with a convincing 5-2 win over North Laurel and will enter the 13th Region Tournament with a five-game win streak.
2. North Laurel (10-8-2, 3-2)
The Jaguars’ hopes of becoming the 49th District champions came to an end after falling to Corbin in the title game last week.
North Laurel will look to recharge its batteries and see if it can meet up against Corbin for a third time in this week’s 13th Region title game and pull off the win.
3. South Laurel (9-9-2, 4-3)
The Cardinals’ season came to an end last week, falling to North Laurel in the 49th District Boys’ Soccer Tournament title game.
4. Whitley County (10-9, 8-4)
The Colonels finished with a winning record but just could find a way to get over the hump against district teams. Whitley County was 0-4 against 49th District opponents.
5. Harlan County (9-6-2, 8-2)
The Black Bears remain alive with hopes of knocking off North Laurel in the semifinals of this week’s 13th Region Tournament. Harlan County will enter the contest as the reigning 50th District champion.
