David Halcomb’s Whitley County Lady Colonels moved one step closer to their first-ever 50th District Tournament championship by defeating South Laurel (5-11) in three sets during semifinal action on Monday.
The Lady Colonels (20-14) wasted little time in picking up the victory, winning all three sets 25-15, 25-21, and 25-22.
Whitley County will now advance to Tuesday’s 50th District championship against Corbin. The two teams have met three times this season with the Lady Redhounds coming away with three victories.
Corbin advanced to the finals by picking up an earlier, 3-0, win on Monday.
