The third time was the charm for Cathy York’s Harlan County Lady Black Bears as they captured their first 52nd District championship dating back to 2014 with a 3-2 win over Bell County.
The two teams had played earlier in the season with the Lady Bobcats winning both matches.
But the third meeting turned out to be different as Harlan County improved to 11-11 with the win while handing Bell County (23-9) it second loss during the past 18 games.
Both teams will be back in action during next week’s 13th Region Tournament.
