THREE MORE TO GO: Corbin moves one step closer to a state championship with 4-1 win over Perry Central

Armando Cima’s Corbin Redhounds are moving on to the Elite Eight for the second time in three years after defeating 14th Region champion Perry Central, 4-1, during first round action of the KHSAA Boys’ State Soccer Tournament at home on Tuesday.

The win advances the Redhounds (17-6-1) to an Elite Eight road matchup with Paul Dunbar on Saturday. The Bulldogs advanced with a 2-0 win over Boyd County.

Corbin face-off against Paul Dunbar during last season’s first round action of the state tournament and lost, 4-1.

Gabe Cima’s two goals in the first half gave the Redhounds a 2-1 lead at halftime while goals by Colby Johnson and Cima in the second half wrapped up the win for Corbin.
