Tom Greer’s Corbin Redhounds captured another district championship on Friday after blowing out Wayne County in the road, 38-0.
The Redhounds (9-0) continues their dominating ways by turning in impressive efforts on both sides of the ball. Greer’s squad built a 24-0 lwas at halftime, and never looked back.
Corbin has now won 25 consecutive regular season games under Greer while posing a perfect 12-0 mark against district opponents.
The Redhounds have now recorded three consecutive shutouts while outscoring their opponents, 151-0, during the stretch.
Corbin started where it left off last, and scored quickly, on its first play from scrimmage as Kade Elam found Carter Stewart open for a 45-yard touchdown connection to give their team a 7-0 lead at the 6:03 mark of the first quarter.
It didn’t take the Redhounds long to score again.
An interception by Zander Curry led to Cameron Combs breaking loose for a 93-yard touchdown run, increasing Corbin’s advantage to 14-0 with 3:46 remaining in the first quarter.
Jacob Baker added a 40-yard field at the 7:34 mark of the second quarter that gave the Redhounds a 17-0 cushion.
Elam’s second touchdown pass of the game, a 19-yarder to Brody Wells opened Corbin’s lead to 24-0 right before the end of the first half.
The Redhounds continued to dominate in the third quarter as Elam’s third touchdown pass, a 24-yard screen pass to Marc Warren, gave his team a 31-0 advantage with 34 seconds remaining.
Elam continued his impressive play in the fourth quarter as his fourth touchdown pass led to Wells’ second touchdown reception. The duo hooked up with a 41-yard score, giving Corbin a commanding 38-0 lead with 6:10 left in regulation.
