Dunbar showed why its considered one of the best soccer teams in the nation (fifth) and state (second) by handing Corbin a 10-0 defeat during Saturday’s Elite Eight matchup of the KHSAA Boys’ Soccer State Tournament.
The Bulldogs dominated on both sides of the field, building a 3-0 lead at halftime before putting the match away with eight minutes remaining in the contest.
Corbin (17-7-1) failed to get a shot on goal and was handed its worst loss of the season. The Redhounds entered the match riding an eight game win streak. It also marked the last game for head coach Armando Cima, who turned the Corbin soccer program into one of the most respected in the state.
Dunbar (17-2-3) entered Saturday’s match red-hot, having not lost a game during its last 13 contests (10-3-1).
The Bulldogs scored two minutes in and never looked back.
Corbin’s Gabe Cima was named to the 2022 Boys’ Soccer State All-Tournament Team.
