AMERICAN CABLE WEEK 10 13TH REGION RANKINGS: Redhounds remain No. 1; Harlan keeps rolling

1. Corbin (9-0)

The Redhounds are one win away from capping off another perfect regular season. A win over Campbell County Friday would almost assure Tom Greer’s squad the No. 1 overall seed in Class 4A entering postseason play.

Corbin currently leads Boyle County with a .73984 while the Rebels have a .72283 ranking. Boyle County’s matchup with Frederick Douglas Friday is huge. A Rebel win could be enough to push Boyle County to No. 1 and the Redhounds to No. 2 in RPI Ratings, so that’s why Friday’s contest with Campbell County is huge.

Who’s next? Corbin will host Campbell County (4-5).

2. Bell County (7-2)

The Bobcats continue to roll behind the one-two punch of tail backs Daniel Thomas and Dawson Woolum. I know it’s a repetitive them but those two are hard to stop. The defense is starting to pick up steam, too, which makes Bell County even more dangerous.

Who’s next? Bell County will be paying a visit to No. 9 Harlan County (4-5).

3. North Laurel (6-3)

The Jaguars came away with a huge road win against Henry County while recording another solid defensive effort in the process.

Who’s next? North Laurel faces another tough road test Friday against Wayne County (6-3).

4. Williamsburg (6-2)

The Yellow Jackets secured another district title while winning their 25th consecutive district game in a row by blowing out Lynn Camp.

Who’s next? Williamsburg will attempt to finish regular season play with another win as Perry Central (5-4) pats a visit Friday.

5. Clay County (6-3)

How about Tate Rice stepping to the plate and throwing for seven touchdowns during last week’s win over Magoffin County?

The Tigers continue to be one of the best offensive teams in the mountains.

Who’s next? Clay County hits the road Friday to play Garrard County (3-6).

6. Middlesboro (5-3)

The Yellow Jackets enjoyed having a week off to prepare for the upcoming Class 2A playoffs.

Who’s next? Middlesboro will host No. 10 Pineville (7-2) on Friday.

7. Harlan (7-2)

The Green Dragons picked up a big district win last week against Pineville, securing a home playoff game in the process.

Who’s next? Harlan hits the road and will face-off against a much-improved Leslie County squad.

8. Knox Central (5-4)

The Panthers came through with a huge district win last Friday, and will attempt to gain more momentum this week.

Who’s next? Knox Central goes on the road and will face-off against Breathitt County (6-3).

9. Harlan County (4-5)

The Black Bears clinched a playoff spot last week with an impressive road win against Perry Central.

Who’s next? Harlan County will face-off against No. 2 Bell County at home.

10. Pineville (7-2)

The Mountain Lions have dropped two straight, both to district opponents. What once looked like a promising season now Pineville will have to play at Hazard during first round action of the Class A playoffs.

Who’s next? The Mountain Lions will travel to play No. 6 Middlesboro (5-3).
