ONE MORE TO GO: Lady Colonels move one step closer to first region title since 2016 with three-set sweep of Bell County

It was business as usual for David Halcomb’s Whitley County Lady Colonels during Wednesday’s 13th Region Volleyball Tournament semifinal match against Bell County.

The Lady Colonels (23-14) showed why they’re considered as the tournament favorite by sweeping the Lady Bobcats (24-10) in three sets.

Bell County was coming off an upset win over North Laurel but couldn’t get on track against Halcomb’s squad.

Whitley County escaped the first set with a 25-20 win while cruising to an easy, 25-12, victory over Bell County in the second set.

The Lady Colonels secured the win with a 25-17 victory in the third set. Whitley County will now face-off against the winner of Corbin and Jackson County during Thursday’s title game at 6 p.m.
