WHAT A COMEBACK: Williamsburg spots Perry Central 14-0 lead before rallying to pick up 22-14 win

Williamsburg finished regular season play in style by scoring 22 unanswered points during its 22-14 win over Perry Central.

The Yellow Jackets (7-2) fell behind 14-0 before rallying to pick up its fourth consecutive win.

Jerry Herron’s squad will enjoy a week off after receiving a first round bye during next week’s Class A playoffs. 

On Friday, Perry Central took advantage of some early miscues but Williamsburg in the first 18 minutes and made the Yellow Jackets pay.

Nolan Wooten intercepted a pass a minute into the contest while Seth Jackson scored on a seven-yard run to give the Commodores a 7-0 lead at the 8:09 mark.

A fumble by Sydney Bowen at the Perry Central six-yard line led to a four-yard rushing touchdown by Kiser Slone as the Commodores’ lead grew to 14-0 with 9:23 remaining in the second quarter. 

Williamsburg came out in the second half a different team as an interception by Jordan Perkins led to Bowen’s 84-yard touchdown run. The extra point was blocked as the Yellow Jackets trailed 14-6 with 10:55 left in the third quarter. 

Another interception, this time by Nate Goodin set up another touchdown for Williamsburg.

Bowen’s 32-yard touchdown pass to Goodin tied the game at 14 apiece with 11:41 remaining in regulation. 

Bowen capped off the win with a five-yard touchdown run while adding the two-point conversion with only 1:24 left in the game, giving the Yellow Jackets a 22-14 win.

Perkins also recorded his second interception of the game with 48 seconds remaining.
