CLASS A GIRLS’ STATE XC: Jackson County’s Shearer places seventh, Lynn Camp finishes 14th in team standings

Jackson County’s Isabelle Shearer and Lynn Camp turned in a stellar efforts during Saturday’s Class A Girls’ State Meet.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats placed 14th overall with 423 points while Abby Mabe capped off her impressive career placing ninth overall with a time of 20:26.70.

Shearer turned in a 13th Region-best seventh place finish overall with a time of 20:20.30 while the Lady Generals finished 22nd overall with 561 points.

Harlan, led by Harper Carmical’s school record performance (42nd, 21:55.40) turned in a 21st place effort with 546 points while Williamsburg, led by Emaly Powers (73rd, 22:51.80) placed 24th with 587 points.

• Harlan’s Chloe Schwenke (96th, 23:33.70), Mia Pace (149th, 24:52.20), Abbigaile Jones (157th, 25:06.91), Juliana Damaa (206th, 27:41.31), and Halle Cox (223rd, 29:58.31).
