Turnovers prove to be key during Knox Central’s loss to Letcher Central

Too many turnovers.
Knox Central turned out to be its own worst enemy during Friday’s 61-6 first round loss to Letcher Central.
The Panthers moved the ball on offense but untimely turnovers did them in as they finish the 2022 campaign with a 5-6 record.
Letcher Central set the tone early with a six-yard touchdown run with 8:31 to go in the first quarter while taking a 7-0 advantage.
After stopping Knox Central during its offensive possession, the Cougars found pay dirt again, adding a seven-yard touchdown run to push its lead to 13-0 with 4:30 remaining in the first quarter.
Knox Central managed to cut its deficit to 13-6 at the 7:35 mark of the second quarter after a two-yard touchdown run by Steven Partin, who finished the season with close to 3,000 yards of total offense, but Letcher Central answered with a touchdown run of its own on its ensuing possession to take a 21-6 advantage.
The Cougars took advantage of another Panther turnover and built a 28-6 cushion after scoring on a 17-yard touchdown run with 1:07 remaining in the first half.
Letcher continues to build on its lead in the second half, pulling away to knock Knox Central out of the playoffs.
