Corbin’s Chloe Hensley and Kamryn Frazier shine during Lady Redhounds’ first wrestling meet of the season

The Corbin Lady Redhound wrestling team participated in the Centre Parkway Classic at Tates Creek High School this past weekend and placed 10th out of 24 teams.

Corbin has eight girls in its roster but only took five due to some out with illness.

Junior Chloe Hensley finished third in her individual class while senior Kamryn Frazier finished fourth in her individual class.

“Last year was our first season at Corbin, it was mostly a learning experience,” Coach Leigh Ann Walden said. “This year we are returning four ladies from last season’s team. With several matches under their belts they have jumped right into the season with confidence and determination. I was impressed at how well we placed Saturday with such a small group compared to the other schools that have twice as many girls than us.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the compassion of my athletes,” Coach Javier Carbajal added. “With every win or loss the entire team was there for one another. The female wrestlers have kicked off the season with a bang and as a coach I am excited for the journey and memories this season will bring.”
