Barbourville’s Amy Shields got her first win as the Lady Tiger head coach on Monday.
Shields’ Lady Tigers fought back from a 44-36 fourth quarter deficit to knock off McCreary Central in come from behind fashion, 60-59.
Barbourville received a 23-point scoring effort from Sarah Smith while Lauren Smith, and Layla Brock each scored 12 points apiece in the win.
The Lady Tigers (1-0) trailed 10-7 at the end of the first quarter but outscored the Lady Raiders, 16-12, in the second quarter to take a 23-22 lead at halftime.
McCreary Central outscored Barbourville, 22-13, during the third quarter to build a 44-36 advantage as Megan Loudermilk canned three, 3-pointers along with scoring nine of her team-high 22 pointers.
Sarah Smith got the hot hand in the fourth quarter and scored 10 points while Lauren Smith and Danni Jordan each scored five points apiece to help Barbourville rally to pick up the thrilling win. Jordan also hit the game-winning shot.
