Harlan County had four players score in double figures during Monday’s 65-57 win over Knott Central.
The Lady Black Bears (1-0) overcame Knott Central’s Kylie Gayheart’s 22-point scoring effort as Taytum Griffin’s 15 points led the Lady Black Bears in the win.
The game was close throughout with both teams scoring 20 points apiece in the first quarter. Harlan County took a 37-30 lead into halftime before outscoring the Lady Patriots, 17-17, in the third quarter to take a 53-46 advantage with eight minutes remaining.
Jaylin Smith scored 13 points for Harlan County while Ella Karst added 12 points, and Taylor Lunsford was a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor with 11 points.
