North Laurel’s Reed Sheppard became the 37th player in state history on Saturday to reach 3,000 career points during the Jaguars’ 88-62 win oVer DuPont Manual.
Sheppard needed just 17 points to accomplish the feet but scored 21 while dishing out a team-best 12 assists. He also finished with five rebounds, three blocked shots, and four steals.
He now currently has 3,004 career points, trailing North Laurel’s Peyton Broughton’s program record, 3,141 points, and Corbin’s Andrew Taylor’s 13th Region record of 3,628 points.
Ryan Davidson scored 21 points while finishing with six rebounds. Gavin Chadwell scored 21 points, on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor while grabbing seven rebounds and finishing with two assists.
The final outcome was never in doubt with the Jaguars taking a 21-11 lead in the first quarter and never looking back.
North Laurel (3-0) led 45-29 at halftime before outscoring DuPont Manual, 17-8, in the third quarter to take a commanding 62-37 advantage entering the fourth quarter.
The Jaguars exploded for 16 points in the final eight minutes to put the game away.
