1. Corbin (1-0, 1-0)
The Lady Redhounds have a had more than a week off to prepare for this week’s WYMT Classic. It is possible see Corbin play both Jackson County, and North Laurel.
2. North Laurel (1-1, 1-0)
The Lady Jaguars cruised past South Laurel but couldn’t pull out the win over one of the state’s top teams in Manual.
The loss did show that North Laurel is going to be a tough team to beat once postseason play begins.
3. Bell County (3-0, 1-0)
The trio of Gracie Jo Wilder, Maya Ausmus, and Lauren McGeorge have already proven they’re going to be hard to handle this season.
4. Jackson County (2-0)
Consecutive blowout wins over Morgan County, and Owen County has the Lady Generals on a roll entering this week’s WYMT Mountain Classic.
Jackson County can make some noise this week and shake the rankings up if the Lady Generals go on a run in Hazard.
5. Knox Central (1-0, 1-0)
The Lady Panthers wasted little time putting away Harlan County this past week during their 81-60 win.
We thought depth could be an issue with Knox Central but we were wrong.
Best of the Rest
6. South Laurel (1-2, 0-1)
The Lady Cardinals have struggled at times early in the season but that is expected with a team as young as they are.
With that said, Emily Cox has had an impressive three-game start for South Laurel. She was named as this week’s L4 Security Player of the Week.
7. Harlan County (2-1, 1-1)
The Lady Black Bears dropped an 81-60 decision to Knox Central but followed that with an impressive, 63-33, win over Clay County.
8. Harlan (1-1, 1-1)
The Lady Green Dragons took a 62-33 loss against Corbin but responded like good teams do, rebounding with a 78-44 victory against Williamsburg.
9. Clay County (2-1, 1-1)
The Lady Tigers opened the season with an impressive, 57-52, victory before falling to Harlan County, 63-33.
10. Pineville (1-1)
We really like the direction the Lady Mountain Lions have talent this season.
