SECOND HALF SURGE: Lady Panthers use 15-4 third quarter run to knock off Harlan, 74-52

Knox Central held a 37-31 lead at halftime over Harlan before using a 15-4 run in the third quarter to pull away and secure a 74-52 win.

The game was close throughout the first half with the Lady Panthers holding a slim 19-17 advantage but Knox Central managed to turn up its defensive play in the second half to improve to 2-0.

Halle Collins turned in another solid effort, scoring a game-high 23 points while Timberly Frederick and Emily Mills added 13 points apiece. Jaylynn Fain also scored in double figures with 10 points.

Kylie Noe led Harlan with 17 points while Aymanni Wynn added 15 points, and Emma Owens scored 14 points.

Collins scored six points in the first quarter while again added five points to give Knox Central a 19-17 lead in the first eight minutes while Owens added six points, and Noe scored five points for the Lady Green Dragons (1-2).

Harlan connected on 8-of-9 free throw attempts in the second quarter while Noe and Wynn each scored five points apiece to keep the Lady Green Dragons close at halftime (37-31).

Knox Central limited Harlan to only two field goals in the third quarter as Mills tallied six points while Collins added five points, and Kelsie Smith scored four of her seven points to give the Lady Panthers a 52-35 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Knox Central wrapped up the win by outscoring Harlan, 22-17, in the fourth quarter despite seeing the Lady Green Dragons knock down three 3-pointers.
