Kyler McLendon scored 17 points while Jaedyn Gist added 14 points, and Kaleb McLendon finished with 12 points as Harlan escaped first round action of the WYMT Mountain Classic with a 49-48 win over Hazard.
The win improved the Green Dragons to 3-0 as they managed to hold the Bulldogs to their lowest point output of the season along with their first loss.
The game was close throughout with Harlan leading 13-11 after the first quarter, and 28-22 at halftime.
The Green Dragons’ lead grew to 42-32 entering the fourth quarter behind Kyler McLendon’s nine points but Hazard rallied during the final eight minutes before seeing the Harlan hold on.
Kaleb McClendon hit a key 3-pointer to keep his team ahead in the fourth quarter while Gist hit four free throws.
