DISTRICT CLASH: Gracie Jo Wilder’s 24 points lead Bell County past Harlan County

Powered by Gracie Jo Wilder’s 24-point scoring effort, Bell County improved to 1-0 in 51st District play by upending Harlan County on Tuesday, 64-54.

The Lady Bobcats (4-1) led 27-24 at halftime but used a 23-10 run in the third quarter to pull away to secure the 10-point victory.

Wilder dominated on both ends of the court, scoring, rebounding, and blocking shots as Lauren McGeorge added 13 points for Bell County while Maya Ausmus scored 10 points.

Kairi Lamb finished with seven points for the Lady Bobcats while Hailee Jones added six points.

Ella Karst led Harlan County (5-2) with 19 points. She scored 10 of those in the fourth quarter while hitting two 3-pointers as the Lady Black Bears outscored the Lady Bobcats, 20-14.

Jaylin Smith added 13 points while Hailey Austin scored eight points, and Taylor Lunsford finished with six points. 

Bell County will be back in action Saturday at home against Claiborne County at 2:30 p.m. the game is a part of the Pride of the Mountains Showcase.

Harlan County will host Pineville Friday at home with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
