Claiborne, Tenn. had no answer for Bell County’s Lauren McGeorge during Saturday’s Pride of the Mountains Basketball Showcase.
McGeorge nailed five 3-pointers while scoring a game-high 25 points to lead the Lady Bobcats to a 65-44 win.
“I thought we came out a little flat but we got going as the game went along,” Bell Countycoach David Teague said. “We started knocking some shots down and that always helps. I thought we played hard. We will face some good competition over the next two weeks in Christmas tournaments so was good to get started with a win today.”
Mataya Ausmus added 16 points while scoring her 1,000th career point during the process. Gracie Jo Wilder added 15 points while Kairi Lamb scored five points.
The win improved Bell County to 6-1. The Lady Bobcats will be back in action Wednesday, December 21 against Pulaski County. Teague’s squad will be participating in Wayne County’s Lady Cardinal Christmas Classic.
