Maddie Curry comes up big with nine fourth-quarter points to lead Jackson County past Union, Va.

Three players scored in double figures during Jackson County’s, 48-34, win o we Union, Va. during first round action of Tuesday’s Smoky Mountain Classic in Gatlinburg.

The Lady Generals (6-1) led 23-17 at halftime but only scored five points in the third quarter, and saw their lead get cut to 28-26 entering the fourth quarter.

But Maddie Curry got the hot-hand in the fourth quarter, hitting two 3-pointers, while scoring nine of her 12 points to help Jackson County secure the 14-point victory.

Kenady Ward led the Lady Generals with 15 points while Abby Gilbert added 13 points. 

Jackson County will play Russell County Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the winner’s bracket. Russell County defeated Warren Central earlier today.
