Corbin coach Isaac Wilson knew his Lady Redhounds would be tested early and often by the best of the best during their stay in the Queen of the Commonwealth, and the statement run true today against McCracken County.
The Lady Redhounds (6-2) suffered their worst loss of the season along with being held to their lowest offensive output after falling, 79-40.
“Hat’s off to McCracken County today as they played a complete game of basketball and really exposed us in all areas,” Wilson said. “At the end of the day, I have to be better as their coach and have them better prepared. We were not ready to play today and that is a direct reflection on me, and I take responsibility for that.
“This tournament has been good for us in many ways and we need to continue to learn from each game,” he added. “It will not only make our players better mentally and physically from playing in this event, but it will help make me a better coach moving forward for our basketball team.”
Corbin fell behind 24-9 in the first quarter, and 46-29 at halftime, and couldn’t recover.
Kallie Housley led the Lady Redhounds with 18 points while Darcie anderson finished with seven points.
“We will be able to show our resiliency tomorrow and how we respond to adversity to finish the tournament,” Wilson said. “We will play another high level opponent in either Bethlehem or Central tomorrow.”
