Mountain Lions turn in runner-up finish in Berea Classic

Pineville saw its five-game win streak come to an end on Thursday after dropping a, 57-52, heartbreaking decision to Cumberland County in the finals of the Berea Classic.

The Mountain Lions (5-3) hung tough throughout the contest, tied at 17 apiece in the first quarter before tailing, 28-25, at halftime, and 39-36 entering the fourth quarter.

Sawyer Thompson led Pineville with 16 points while Evan Biliter added 15 points. Ashton Moser scored in doubles, finishing with 11 points.

Pineville will be back in action Wednesday, Dec. 28 as the Mountain Lions will host the Chain Rock Classic.

Pineville’s first opponent will be Cumberland Gap, Tenn. at 7:45 p.m.
