Here it is folks, the list you’ve been waiting for. Our folks at L4 Security 13th Region Media Network put our heads together, and here is the list of the 13th Region’s 40 Finest Football Players Sponsored By Bubby’s Barbecue.
But before we get to the list, we got ahead of ourselves, and actually had three ties as well that we forgot to add when we added up each teams’ total representation. So we actually have the 13th Region’s 43 Finest Football Players listed.
Please cheer on, and congratulate each player on the list, and if your favorite player didn’t make the list, please don’t go the post to complain. It will immediately be deleted.
So with that said, congratulations to everyone that made the list!
Will Austin, Harlan, Senior, WR/DB
Austin led the Green Dragons with 15 catches, 289 receiving yards, and five touchdowns. He also had a punt return for a score, and a kickoff return for a score.
Defensively, Austin finished with 45 tackles, and two sacks along with six interceptions, and a fumble recovery he took back for a score.
Jacob Baker, Corbin, Senior, K/DB/P
Baker finished the 2022 campaign with eight field goals, & 72 extra points, finishing with 98 total points which ranked second overall for Corbin. He also had four interceptions, and 99 tackles.
Evan Biliter, Pineville, Senior, TE/LB
Biliter had 434 yards receiving with 9 touchdowns, he also kicked 5 extra points, and was third in team scoring with 59. On defense, he had 34 tackles and 11 sacks.
Eli Bolton, Corbin, Senior, OL/DL
Bolton provided solid play for coach Tom Greer the entire season.
Sydney Bowen, Williamsburg, Senior, QB
Bowen threw for 1520 yards and 12 touchdowns last season while averaging 152.0 passing yards per game in 2022. He also ran for a team-best 1012 yards and 19 touchdowns while averaging 101.2 rushing yards per game.
Cameron Combs, Corbin, Senior, RB
Combs ran for 1401 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground, he also had 168 yards receiving with 3 receiving touchdowns, which led Corbin in scoring with 124 points.
Zander Curry, Corbin, Junior, WR/DB
Curry ran for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground, he also had 74 yards receiving with 2 receiving touchdowns. He also had 7 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, and 69 tackles.
Hayden Dameron, Bell County, Sophomore, TE/DE
Dameron had 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 92 tackles, and 9 sacks.
Brayden Dunn, Bell County, Junior, OL/DL
Dunn turned out to be one of the best linemen during the 2022 campaign.
Kade Elam, Corbin, Sophomore, QB
Elam passed for 2455 yards and threw 33 touchdown passes. He also ran for 520 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. Elam had 84 total points which ranked third for Corbin.
Bradley Elza, South Laurel, Senior, RB/LB
Bradley led the team in rushing with 153 yards, on defense led the team with tackles with 90 and had an interception.
Treyshawn Holmes-Evans, North Laurel, Junior, RB/LB
Evans had 376 yards rushing with 6 touchdowns on the ground, and was third on the team in scoring with 36. On defense, he had 108 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 2 sacks.
Alex Gamble, Williamsburg, Junior, OL/DL
Gamble
Gamble dominated in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Finished with 27 tackles, and one sack.
Ethan Gregory, North Laurel, Junior, RB/DB
Gregory had 1251 yards rushing with 10 touchdowns on the ground. He also had 12 catches for 79 yards, and second on the team in scoring with 60 points. Defensively, he finished with nine tackles.
Cayden Grigsby, Middlesboro, Junior, QB/DB
Grigsby passed for 1475 yards and 17 touchdowns this season for the Yellow Jackets while running for 1089 yards & 17 touchdowns on the ground. He also had 17 tackles, and 1 interception on defense.
Nate Goodin, Williamsburg, Sophomore, QB/WR/DB
Goodin had 615 receiving yards with 9 receiving touchdowns. On defense he had 40 tackles and 3 interceptions.
Tye Hamblin, Whitley County, Junior, RB/DB
Hamblin threw for 1092 yards and 12 touchdowns, while running for 494 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground. On the defensive side of the ball Hamblin had 10 total tackles.
Zayne Hammack, Corbin, Senior, FB/LB
Hammack led Corbin with 141 tackles. One hundred of those were solo tackles. He also had three sacks, and one interception.
On offense, he had 43 rushing yards, and two touchdowns along with one catch for two yards.
Carter Howard, Harlan County, Junior, RB/LB
Howard had 71 total tackles, 15 of those were for loss, 5 sacks, and he also had a forced fumble.
Jordan Hurst, Williamsburg, Senior, OL/DL
Hurst made big play after big play on the line for coach Jerry Herron’s squad this past season.
Austin Johnson, North Laurel, Junior, OL/DL
Johnson had another breakout season for the Jaguars, leading the state for the second year in a row with 24 sacks. He had 98 tackles with 11 of those going for a loss. He also finished with 1 forced fumble.
Thomas Jordan, Harlan County, Junior, RB/DB
Jordan led the Black Bears with 1044 rushing yards, and 14 rushing touchdowns. He also had three catches for 32 yards. Defensively, Jordan collected 16 tackles.
Landon King, Pineville, Senior, WR/DB
King rushed for 1087 yards and 11 touchdowns, he also had 319 yards receiving and 3 receiving touchdowns. He led the team in scoring with 104 total points. He also had 36 tackles and 3 interceptions.
Trey King, Middlesboro, Junior, OL/DL
King continued to make holes for quarterback Cayden Grigsby, and showed he was one of the best linemen in the region.
Dylan Middleton, Harlan, Senior, OL/RB/DL
Middleton ran for 278 yards and 2 touchdowns. On defense, he had a forced fumble, 3 fumble recoveries, 77 tackles, 5 sacks, and 1 interception.
Clay Morris, North laurel, Senior, OL/DT
Morris had 126 total tackles, 23 of those was for loss, and 10 sacks.
Steve Partin, Knox Central, Junior, QB, RB, WR, LB
Partin did it all this season for Knox Central. He passed for 927 yards and 11 TDs, ran for 1782 yards, and 26 TDs, caught 10 passes for 168 yards and 2 TDs, and led the Panthers with 185 total points. He finished with 71 tackles.
Ethan Raby, Bell County, Senior, FB/LB
Raby ran for 157 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Raby was fourth on the team with 32 points, he also logged 92 tackles and 3 sacks, with 1 fumble recovery
Tate Rice, Clay County, Junior, Quarterback
Rice threw for 2417 yards and 36 touchdowns this season while also running for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Zachary Saylor, Clay County, Senior, WR/DB
Saylor had 830 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns . On defense, he had 15 total tackles, and 3 interceptions.
Josh Sergent, Harlan County, Senior, RB/LB
Sergent had 126 total tackles, 8 were for loss, he also had 2 interceptions which 1 got returned for a touchdown.
Connor Sizemore, North Laurel, Senior, TE/DE
Sizemore had 54 total tackles, with 11 of those going for loss, and 10 sacks.
Carter Stewart, Corbin, Junior, WR/DB
Stewat had 1065 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns. On the defensive side, he had 25 tackles and 1 interception.
Jonah Swanner, Harlan County, Junior, WR/CB
Swanner ran for 558 yards, and 10 touchdowns while leading the team with 19 catches, 316 receiving yards, and five touchdowns. He had two interceptions on defense, and finished with 30 tackles.
Daniel Thomas, Bell County, Junior, RB/LB
Thomas ran for 2228 yards and 29 TDs. He also threw for 101 yards, and 2 touchdowns while hauling in 12 receptions for 360 yards, and five touchdowns. He led the team in scoring with 226 points. On defense, he had 87 tackles, 5 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries.
Sawyer Thompson, Pineville, Sophomore, QB/RB/LB
Thompson threw for 1326 yards and 18 touchdowns, he also ran the ball for 291 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Tyson Wagers, Clay County, Junior, WR/DB
Wagers had 889 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns. He led the team in scoring with 104 total points. On defense, he had 38 tackles, and 1 interception which was returned for a touchdown.
Jayden Ward, Harlan, Senior, RB/DB
Ward ran for 1423 rushing yards & 19 TDs this season. He also recorded 25 tackles on defense.
Tucker Warren, North Laurel, Junior, QB/DB
Warren threw for 1287 yards and 10 touchdowns this season and had 1154 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground.
Brody Wells, Corbin, Senior, WR/LB
Wells ran for 206 yards with 2 touchdowns on the ground, Had 457 yards receiving and 9 receiving touchdowns, while finishing fourth on Corbin in scoring with a total of 72 points. On defense Wells had 63 tackles, and 4 interceptions, one he returned 77 yards for a touchdown.
Franklin West, Corbin, Junior, OL
West was a big reason the Redhounds were so successful on offense. He made sure the ground game had plenty of holes to run through, and also protected quarterback Kade Elam.
Kameron Wison, Middlesboro, Junior, WR/S
Wison had 687 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns, finished second on his team in scoring with 78 points. He had 19 tackles, and 3 interceptions which 2 of those were returned for a touchdown
Dawson Woolum, Bell County, Senior, RB/LB Woolum rushed for 1123 yards, and 17 TDs while also catching 10 passes for 135 yards. Defensively, he had 88 tackles, two sacks, 1 interception, and two fumble recovery touchdowns.
