Bell County’s girls’ wrestling team placed second out of 14 wrestling teams on Wednesday at the Hatfield McCoy Ladies Tournament held at Appalachian Wireless Arena in Pikeville.
McCreary Central won first by 4 team points.
Jordan Muncy led the way not only winning her weight class but also being named as Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.
“They work so hard,” Bell County coach Ovid Canady said. “They fight so hard. They are so tough mentally. Our whole team is so proud of these girls.”
Alexis Holman also won a tournament title at 126. Shelby Collins, Madyson Helton, Rebekah Sowders all finished 2nd in their weight classes. McKenzie Webb was 3rd at 145 and Grace Helton was 4th in that class. Hannah Fetters finished 4th in her weight class. All nine girls we took brought home medals.
