Sawyer Thompson came up clutch when Pineville needed him most.
The sophomore guard poured in a game-high 35 points while going 23-of-26 from the free-throw line to lead the Mountain Lions to Friday’s Chain Rock Classic championship with a 75-63 victory over Prestonsburg.
Pineville (8-3) recorded three wins to capture the championship, defeating Cumberland Gap, Tenn. (64-20), Gallatin County (66-61), and the Black Cats.
Evan Biliter added 19 points while hitting 9-of-10 free throw attempts while Ashton Moser finished with 11 points.
