Harlan Carpet Mart Girls’ 13th Region Week 5 Top 10

1. Corbin (9-3 overall, 4-0 vs. 13th Region opponents)

The Lady Redhounds have played one heck of a slate so far, and they’re going to be better because of it.

Coach Isaac Wilson continues to do a great job with Corbin, as the Lady Redhounds remain the team to beat in the region.

2. North Laurel (7-2, 2-1)

The Lady Jaguars went down to Georgia, and came away with a tournament title. Coach Eddie Mahan’s squad is right in the mix of things when you’re taking about regional front runners.

3. Knox Central (9-2, 5-0)

The one knock I had on Knox Central was the lack of challenging teams on its schedule. Well they’ve been challenged this season, and have come up with some big wins.

Sophomore Halle Collins continues to dominate on both ends of the floor while Timberly Frederick has been hard to contain from behind the arc.

4. Bell County (8-3, 2-1)

The Lady Bobcats turned in a combined 3-2 mark during their play in two holiday tournaments, and are now ready to make a run at the Kentucky 2A, Section 7 title.

5. Jackson County (10-2, 1-1)

The Lady Generals are for real. They’ve got a solid one-two-three punch in Kenady Ward, Abby Gilbert, and Maddy Curry.

6. South Laurel (8-6, 0-2)

Coach Chris Souder has worked wonders with his young squad this season. Emily Cox leads the way but players such as Shelbie Mills, Skeeter Mabe, and Kenlea Murray have stepped up their play.

7. Harlan County (10-3, 6-2)

The Lady Black Bears are winners of five of their last six games, and will have two tests coming up this week against No. 6 South Laurel, and Hazard.

8. Pineville (10-4, 3-2)

The Lady Mountain Lions are ready to make a run at this week’s 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic Tournament championship.

9. Clay County (6-6, 4-3)

The Lady Tigers have three big tests coming up. If they can get wins in those games, they’ll be moving on up in the rankings.

10. Harlan (4-7, 2-2)

The Lady Green Dragons are ready to make a run at the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic Tournament championship.
