FOUR IN A ROW: Harlan cruises past Jackson County, 78-46, while capturing fourth straight 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic championship

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

That’s right, Derrick Akal’s Harlan Green Dragons are heading to Richmond once again after capturing their fourth consecutive 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic Tournament title during Tuesday’s 78-46 rout of Jackson County.

It marks the second time in program history Harlan has won four straight 13th Region All ‘A’ crowns. The Green Dragons also accomplished the feat during the mid-90s when they won two state titles in ‘94, and ‘95.

The 13th Region’s No. 1 ranked team scored early, and often, building an 18-9 lead in the first quarter, and a 45-20 cushion at halftime before cruising to their 32-victory.

Harlan (15-2) improved to 6-0 against 13th Region teams with the win. The Green Dragons knocked down 14 3-pointers as Kyler McLendon led the way with five 3-pointers, and 23 points. Trenton Coke also nailed five 3-pointers while finishing with 17 points. Kaleb McLendon, and Jaedyn Gist each added 10 points in the win.

Jude Lakes, and Tydus Summers each scored 15 apiece for Jackson County (12-6) while Keagan Ward finished with 11 points.
