Ella Karst dishes out 35-point scoring output during Harlan County’s 66-40 win over Middlesboro 

Harlan County’s Ella Karst out on a show during Friday’s 52nd District matchup with Middlesboro.

Karst torched the nets for a game-high 35 while nailing five 3-pointers to lead the Lady Black Bears to a 66-40 victory.

Karst started off with six points in the first quarter, and followed with point totals of 15, eight, and six during the second, third, and fourth quarters, respectively.

Harlan County actually trailed 13-12 at the end of the first quarter before exploding for 31 points in the second quarter to take a 43-19 edge at halftime.

The Lady Yellow Jackets never recovered as the Lady Black Bears outscored them, 23-21, during the second half.

Taytum Griffin added 14 points for Harlan County while Jaylin Smith scored eight points, and Hailey Austin added six points. Cheyenne Rhymer also scored three points in the win.

Keevi Betts led Middlesboro with 24 points while hitting 11-of-14 shot attempts from the free-throw line.
