For the first time in over two and a half months, Derrick Akal’s Harlan Green Dragons were able to play at home, and boy, did their fans get a show.
Harlan scored early, and often during its 90-59 blowout win over Bell County.
Akal’s squad was coming off a hard fought two-point road win against Clay County just a day before but didn’t show any signs of fatigue during their 31-point victory.
Harlan knocked down 12 3-pointers while scoring at least 90 points or more for for the fourth times this season. They’ve also scored at least 80 points or more on 10 different occasions.
The Green Dragons improved to 17-2 with the win, and moved their record against regional opponents to a perfect 8-0 while seeing their district record go to 2-0.
Harlan was led by Jaedyn Gist, and Kyler McLendon with both players scoring 26 points apiece. McLendon also hit four 3-pointers. Will Austin followed with 19 points while Kaleb McLendon finished with nine points.
Dawson Woolum led Bell County (5-11 overall, 0-2 vs. 52nd District opponents) with 13 points while Cayden Huff, and Ethan Buell each scored nine points apiece.
