If you’re not a believer of the Harlan Green Dragons, you better start believing.
The Green Dragons avenged one of its two losses this season on Monday, defeating Pikeville at home, 76-72.
Harlan had won an earlier meeting (73-61 on Dec. 12) with the Panthers before dropping a 76-63 decision on Dec. 22.
The Green Dragons did just enough the third time around to pull off a four-point victory.
The 13th Region’s top ranked squad improved to 19-2 while nailing 10 3-pointers during the win.
Kyler McLendon led the way with 35 points and five 3-pointers while Will Austin added 22 points and three 3-pointers. Jae’dyn Gist finished with 10 points while Kaleb McLendon added nine points.
Harlan trailed 22-19 at the end of the first quarter before sending the game tied at 35 apiece entering halftime.
The Green Dragons trailed 56-55 going into the fourth quarter before outscoring Pikeville, 21-16, during the final eight minutes.
Rylee Sammons led the Panthers with 26 points while Charlie Fitzer finished with 18 points, and Eli Johnson added 12 points.
